Well, the scouts of Troop 905 spent a very eventful week at summer camp and have an awful lot to show for it! After starting out the week with a bit of rain that cancelled our swim test, the scouts got to work on their merit badges. The 34 scouts in our troop that went to camp earned a total of 111 merit badges! We also had 10 scouts earn the Brownsea Island Honor Camper Award and one patrol earn the Breen Bar Bill Honor Patrol Award!

In addition to all of the work on merit badges, our scouts had plenty of time to simply enjoy being outdoors and take in all Mother Nature had to offer. Many of the scouts took advantage of the fishing opportunities that Heritage offers and spent a lot of their free time "drowning worms"!

Our campfire Tuesday night was a huge success with around 100 folks participating with new skits and loads of fun! We also identified our troop "Fire Bug" in the form of Mr. McCurry. The fire he built for us was staggering and the fact that it was spotted by the astronauts on the International Space Station gave us all a sense of pride!

However, the most important lesson learned at camp this year is that when the scouts cook pancakes for breakfast, it's time to head to the nearest McDonalds! While two patrols made AWESOME flapjacks, the other three patrols had 'issues' that made the leaders wonder how far the golden arches might be.

All in all, everyone had a great time and we were treated to world class bugling in the form of our 'adopted scout', Andy, who joined us from Alaska and did a wonderful job waking us up every morning with his bugle.

In closing, I'd like to thank everyone who attended camp with us this year, especially the leaders who took time off of work, who made this a very special summer camp! Thank You All!
